Seminar on “Source Separation and Decentralization for Wastewater Management”

On 24th February 2023, a seminar was held for the final year undergrad students of the Department of Civil Engineering in the Department’s seminar room. Prof. Dr. Ing. Eckhard Kraft was the speaker of this seminar. The department’s faculty was present among the attendees, along with the students, and the SCIP team. Prof. Kraft highlighted the importance of source separation in wastewater management and the current condition of the European developing countries.

Moreover, he mentioned the loopholes of the conventional wastewater disposal system which leads to a loss of nutrients in the environment. He added that the phosphorus reserves in the wastewater treatment system, which limit the amount of phosphorus, a primary nutrient found in wastewater, will be depleted in 240 years. After his lecture, a short question-and-answer session was held. At last, Prof. Asif, as a head of the Department of Civil Engineering, presented a crest to Prof. Kraft for imparting his knowledge and experiences to the audience, which will benefit especially the undergrad students in their future endeavors.
