SCIP organizes an Inception Workshop at CUET

A workshop titled “Inception Workshop: Plastic Waste Quantification and Jute Substitution Initiatives” was held today, January 14 (Tuesday), 2025, at 12:40 PM in the Academic Council Room of CUET’s Administrative Building-1, under the initiative of SCIP Plastics Project. The workshop’s purpose was to formally welcome interns involved in a CUET campus-based work of the SCIP plastics project. The project has taken the initiative to determine the rate of plastic waste generation in CUET campus and student residence halls and to use jute as an alternative to single-use plastic. Six students of the 21st batch of the Department of Civil Engineering of CUET were appointed as interns.

Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan, Vice Chancellor of CUET, was the chief guest. The special guests were CUET’s Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Professor Dr. Sudip Kumar Pal and the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Professor Dr. Aysha Akter. The guests present at the workshop were Institutional Quality Assurance Cell Director Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdur Rahman Bhuiyan, Directorate of Research & Extension Director Professor Dr. Sajal Chandra Banik, Institute of River, Harbor and Environmental Science Director Professor Dr. Asiful Hoque, Planning and Development Director Professor Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain. The event was presided over by SCIP Plastics Project Scientific Director Professor Dr. Mst. Farzana Rahman Zuthi. The event was moderated by Junior Environmental Eng., Md. Ajijur Rahman. Dr. Farjana Khan, Environmental Engineer of the SCIP Plastics project, presented her group’s ongoing work to the attendees.
