Plastic debris discharge in the Bay of Bengal is a growing threat to the natural habitats and environmental health of Bangladesh. Developing viable countermeasures and possible ways to tackle plastic discharge directly into the sea as well as to evaluate potentiality of using jute fiber-based products replacing plastic-based products are the two key targets which the “SCIP Plastics Project CUET” team is aiming to achieve. In order to create a mass awareness about the adverse impacts of plastic pollution to the environment along with drawing attention on research activities to find alternative solutions that reduce the plastic use, Department of Civil Engineering, CUET SCIP project wing arranged a round table seminar at hotel Peninsula, Chattogram on 14 november 2022.
