The SCIP Plastics project, in collaboration with CUET, successfully organized a knowledge-sharing campaign on a sustainable plastic-free marine environment at the Hotel Peninsula in Chittagong. The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor of CUET as the chief guest, accompanied by Professor Dr. Eckhard Kraft, the Scientific Lead of the SCIP Plastics project from Bauhaus University, Germany. Dr. Sudip Kumar Pal, Dean of Civil and Environmental Engineering at CUET, and Dr. Ulrike Barbara Kuch, Pro-VC of Bauhaus University at Weimar, Germany also attended the event. Dr. Farzana Rahman Zuthi, Scientific Director of the SCIP Plastics project, presided over the campaign. The campaign featured speeches by Dr. Asiful Haque, Scientific Expert from Working Group V, Dr. Sudip Kumar Pal from Working Group IV, Dr. Eckhard Kraft, and Mr Gregor Carsten Ralf Biastoch. The event drew attendees from various organizations, including the Chittagong City Corporation, Chittagong WASA, Bangladesh Jute Association, and Chittagong Port. This initiative aimed to promote awareness and knowledge sharing among stakeholders on sustainable plastic management practices to mitigate marine pollution in the Bay of Bengal.
